Once your status is internally moved from ‘applicant’ to ‘student,’ you will receive access to the following GTC resources:
- GTC4me – within about 45 minutes
- Gmail – within about 4 to 6 hours
- Blackboard – not available until about 24 hours before the class starts
You can view your schedule by following these steps:
- Log into GTC4me
- Select Self Service
- Select Student Planning
- Select Go to Plan & Schedule
If you can’t log into Blackboard, check first to make sure you are actually enrolled in the course. Issues can occur during the application or enrollment process that keep you from being enrolled.
- Confirm that your student ID#, username and social security number match the one in our system.
- Check your internet browser (use Chrome and not Internet Explorer).
Access to courses through Blackboard is not available until 24 hours before a class begins.
Our Early College Access and Resource Guide may provide additional information.Log into GTC4me, then click on Self Service.
Click on your username on the right side of the toolbar at the top of the screen. (If you are using a mobile device, you will not see your username; you will only see an icon showing a person in the middle of a circle.)
In the menu that appears, click User Profile.
On the page that opens, your student ID number (Colleague ID) should be displayed under your name near the top.On the Application: Import errors can occur when there is conflicting information for a student, like if you typed one social security number or birthdate for the placement test and a different one when you applied. This can prevent the application from progressing to ‘student’ status.
Contact earlycollege@gvltec.edu - We can work with enrollment services to locate and correct the import error if you give us the email address you used to apply.
On the Enrollment Form: You should be able to reset your own username and password. If that doesn’t work, you can contact the Early College office (earlycollege@gvltec.edu) for assistance. The college receives South Carolina Lottery funds on behalf of dual-enrolled students, which enables the college to waive a substantial portion of Early College student tuition. In other words, the college uses lottery funds to help subsidize dual-enrollment, which helps keep costs significantly lower for our students.
Inclusive Access refers to online textbooks located on the student Blackboard account. When a student registers for a course that requires an online textbook, it is loaded automatically and charged to the student’s account.
Although online textbook costs are less than traditional printed textbooks they are not available for all courses. The courses below are included in the Inclusive Access option. Please see the bookstore site for pricing information.
Grades can be viewed through GTC4me and Blackboard. Click on the course and then my grades.
At the conclusion of a semester, grade reports will also be emailed directly to partnering school counselors, home school students or students at individual collaborative schools (private schools, online academies, etc).College credit earned in courses identified as University Transfer are accepted as transfer credit at any two-year and most four-year public colleges in South Carolina as well as most colleges nationwide. It is the student’s responsibility to contact any colleges where they are considering enrolling to confirm acceptance of any dual credits. Greenville Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Students at Greenville County Public Schools should check with high school administration to see how college credits transfer at the high school level.
South Carolina public colleges and universities have developed a list of universally transferable courses, giving you a great place to start. You may also want to review the agreements and options at the South Carolina Transfer and Articulation Center.
Applying and Enrolling
The first step for all Early College students is to apply. This is free and does not obligate you in any way to participate in the program.
Visit Get Started with Early College to access the application as well as important information about how to apply. In Student Planner, it says I can’t enroll because I have a flag on my account. What does this mean?
Flags for purging/advising are routinely placed on GTC student accounts, but they do not apply to Early College students and can be disregarded.
Student Planner is useful for viewing your schedule, but as an Early College student, you do not enroll (register) through Student Planner like regular GTC students. See Get Started with Early College for more about how to enroll. The following files must be uploaded as attachments with the enrollment form:
- Acceptable test scores (SAT, ACT or Accuplacer)
- Current school transcript
- Photo ID
Enrollment services must have all of these documents before they can change an applicant’s status from ‘applied’ to ‘student’ and enroll students in classes.
Issues that can cause the processing of a form to be delayed:
- incorrect social security number
- missing information (like course section numbers or signatures)
- incorrect counselor selected
If a student drops a course before the last date to drop has passed, they can receive a refund for the course and it does not adversely affect their GPA.
If they withdraw or are withdrawn, it is classified as an attempt and they will be charged full price for the course. A withdrawal is better than receiving a failing grade, as it does not adversely affect your GPA. View GTC’s Add/Drop/Withdraw page for additional information.
PLEASE NOTE: In some majors, if a course is attempted more than once, students will not be able to continue in the program. It may hurt their chances of getting into the program depending on the college/program. Some colleges/universities don’t like to see withdrawals but may consider it insignificant if the student can adequately explain or justify it.Courses
In general, students who are dual-enrolled through the GTC Early College program may take any Greenville Tech courses at any of the GTC campuses for which they meet the pre-requisites.
Some high schools have their own dual enrollment classes (called J-sections). These are not listed in the public GTC Course Schedule.
Check the Course Schedules page to view all GTC courses (excluding J-sections)
Check the Course Description listing for pre-requisite details.Individual courses may have specific admission criteria. To take a course, students must meet either the grade minimum requirements or satisfy the placement requirements.
-
- Grades: see the details of Early College GPA and Grade Requirements
- Placement Requirements: see the required scores for placing into popular courses.
- If you need to take the Accuplacer test, visit Placement Testing for testing location options, sample questions and test preparation resources.
Once a class has met, it is closed for enrollment. It is sometimes possible to get a signed permission from the instructor, but you should check with your advisor or the Early College office.
GTC offers flex-start classes that contain the same information and credit hours with a later start date and compressed to 10 or 11 weeks instead of 15 weeks in a semester. We don’t recommend flex-start classes for Early College students, however, they are an option for highly motivated students. You may submit your enrollment request through Student Planning as soon as the course schedules are available. As a reminder, all requests require counselor approval.
See the Important Dates and Deadlines section on the Early College home page for:
- when courses go live for viewing (typically late September for Spring, Mid-March for Summer & Fall)
- when enrollment opens for returning students (typically mid-October for Spring, late March for Summer & Fall)
- when enrollment opens for new students (typically late October for Spring, mid-April for Summer & Fall)
Individual students won’t receive an email from GTC. You can, however, view your schedule by following these steps:
- Log into GTC4me
- Select Self Service
- Select Student Planning
- Select Go to Plan & Schedule. This will bring up classes you are currently enrolled in, but remember, this isn’t where you enroll as an Early College Student.
