Credentialing Process for Dual Enrollment Instructors
Steps for Credentialing High School Faculty to Teach Dual Enrollment
Credentialed Dual Enrollment Teachers collaborate with GTC Administration and Faculty to deliver college credit courses in their high school classrooms. The first step in offering Dual Enrollment courses is for teachers to become credentialed by GTC. The typical time frame for a teacher to apply is October 1 - March 31 for courses beginning the next school year.
Step 1 - Email an unofficial copy of graduate college transcripts to earlycollege@gvltec.edu. The transcripts will be reviewed by the appropriate GTC Department Head for approval. (18+ graduate hours in subject area required)
Step 2 - After confirmation of approval by the appropriate GTC Department Head, candidates can complete the Temporary Instructor:Early College application through the GTC Employment Portal.
Step 3 - You will be contacted by the GTC Department Head to schedule an interview and for specifics on your next steps.
Step 4 - Once officially hired, you will be required to attend a virtual New Adjunct Orientation as well as complete an online course, “Teaching with Blackboard.” You will receive a stipend for completion of both.
Step 5 - Your GTC Department Head and Faculty Liaison will be your primary point of contact with questions regarding teaching your dual enrollment course. Make sure to check your GTC email regularly for updates and invitations to departmental training or meetings.
