Emergency Medical Technician Career Pathway
Emergency Medical Technician students will have the knowledge and skills needed to assess, stabilize and provide pre-hospital emergency medical care to critically ill and injured patients. The program prepares students to pass the NREMT exam and become a certified EMT.

With this Career Pathway, students will learn basic EMT skills and will have the opportunity to become a certified EMT.
Eligible students:
Available for second-semester seniors (must be 18 years old by summer after graduation), must place in ENG 101, pass criminal background check and drug screen, have letter from principal and interview with EMT dept.

EMS 105 and EMS 106
When:
Courses are offered in the afternoons, Monday through Thursday, in Spring semester.
Where:
Courses are taught at Greenville Tech’s Barton Campus.
Result:
High School Graduation + certified EMT (with passing NREMT exam)
Graduates are qualified for entry-level EMT positions at emergency medical services or hospitals, with an average salary of $38,500. (SC EMS Association)
AFTER HIGH SCHOOL
After high school, students seamlessly transition into the Associate in Applied Science Emergency Medical Technology program at Greenville Technical College.

Result:
Graduates of the associate degree program also have the opportunity to earn professional EMT and Paramedic credentials upon passing exam by the National Registry of EMTs, BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS and AMLS .
Graduates are qualified for entry-level Paramedic positions at emergency medical services or hospitals, with an average salary of $45,000.
